My wife works in benton harbor and has heard about Dialo's from coworkers. She brought some food home and WOW! It was absolutely delicious. I can't rate the service or atmosphere as it was a take out order, also, as of now, no dine in option. We are eager to tell our friends and family about this place. We'll definitely be back.

I would literally wait outside in the snow for at least 2 hours for this food. To call it amazing is an understatement. The chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry like most places, it was juicy and delicious.

I did make a mistake while ordering and got the Boss Hog fries with pork, which I dont eat, instead of chicken but the pork looked and smelled so good, I threw my morals out the window for a bit and enjoyed it anyway.

And hands down the best Mac n cheese Ive ever f-ing had, like so good I want to run away with the Mac n cheese and live happily ever after. I will keep coming back here, and I will happily wait however long it takes to get this amazing food made by angels. Thank you!

Always a great experience here. We've had the chicken, fish, pulled pork, pasta.... All delicious. The sides are great. I love the cabbage, yams, and fried okra. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but today we got our food super fast and enjoyed it at a nearby park.

Nice people. Great Menu selections. It's a small storefront, easy to miss, on the main drag through Fairplane (M139, Scottsdale Rd.).
The BBQ chicken was fantastic. It's a little bit zippy, but not to hot even for the wimpy. We both enjoyed it. She had white meat and I had dark.
Her cabbage and dressing were both good.
My okra was excellent! The first bite of the greens was very tough. The rest were Ok but weirdly flavored.
I like trying new foods. The menu is big enough that I could come back regularly and not have the same thing twice.

Give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

This was outstanding. The tips were sticky and well smoked, the brisket toothy but curable with the provided plastic knife, the greens...mmm...and the redbeansxand rice off the hook. Awesome food in Benton Harbor! I've been here a few times and I haven't been disappointed. So far I've tried the ribs, rib tips, and smoked chicken (dark meat) with greens and Cole slaw for sides. Everything is finger licking good. Friendly service and nice eating area also!

This has been one of the best kept secrets of the COVID/Doordash era. The food is absolutely amazing. I've ordered several different dishes and they were all ridiculous. The hand cut fries are a must have. Amazing staff and customer service. Definitely a place ill go when things open back up.

We were in town for a wedding and wanted a light snack before the reception. We found this spot via reviews and checked it out. Please do not let the humble exterior fool you - this place may look like a hole in the wall but the fried chicken was AMAZING. We split an order of fried chicken with mac and cheese and coleslaw. The fried chicken may have taken 20 minutes but it was worth the wait! We rounded out our light snack with a slice of carrot cake that was a great after wedding treat.

We even joke about making the trip back up from Chicago for this fried chicken - so good!

Go here. Hands down. Best meal I've had in ages. The customer service was fantastic and the sweet tea the best I've had north of the Mason-Dixon.

I've been craving soul food for awhile now. I decided to encourage my colleagues to dine at Dialo's for lunch on a Thursday. Also known as BBQ THURSDAY! I was not disappointed at all. Friendly service and generous portions. I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. Unless dining in I would suggest calling your order in and checking out the Facebook page for daily deals. I might go back for Fish Fry Friday, too.

Very convenient location off the highway. Stopped on the way to Chicago for lunch. Very welcoming. Plenty of bbq choices, sandwiches, homestyle cooking. We found it to be very flavorful and delicious. A great find.

Dialo's is getting better and better and I think they now merit five stars.
I walked in at 5pm Friday and placed a takeout order. Pulled pork sandwich on special for $7 including one side - this was a no-brainer. Sandwich includes coleslaw and onion straws over the excellent smoked pork. Coleslaw is unique, including small slices of red/green peppers. Perfect french fries for my side. I sprung for the banana pudding; great flavor but would have preferred more banana.

Just ate here. It's everything you would expect out of soul food. Fried chicken and sides were excellent. My kid had the shrimp pasta and it was as good as anything in a top notch Italian restaurant. Large portions too.

Next time we will order the chicken again and try the cabbage, mac & cheese and pinto bean side dishes as well. The yam side dish is great but tastes like a dessert. I ordered the catfish dinner with hand cut fries. OMGGG! It was tremendous! Catfish was cooked to perfection. The fries were piping hot and delish! Our waitress was great! She really took care of us! We will definitely be back before leaving town.

Everything is on point, no-frills, low-cost and fantastic! The place is clean service is open and welcoming, this is a must try.

Friendly staff. A small kinda place too, maybe max seating for 20-30. Small mix of tables and booths. Definitely has a "family owned" kinda vibe to it.

I usually get either the perch or catfish with sides of mac n' cheese and sweet potatos/yams. And it's all really, really good. The biscuits with apple butter are to die for as well! My friends usually get the barbeque chicken or ribs and they love 'em. Some of the desserts aren't all that great though tbh.

I highly recommend it! I'd go once a week if I could to be honest :)

First visit to Dialo's!!! It was just like eating at home!!! The ribs, smothered pork chops and fried chicken was excellent, let's not forget the sides and dessert!! Delicious!! And we drove from Elkhart IN.

Fantastic! I had the perch po'boy, a side of cabbage, and Mac 'n cheese. Banana pudding for dessert.
The po'boy was HUGE and delicious. Nice breading on the filets, and plenty of them. Remoulade, pickles, onion, tomato and lettuce. I loved it.
The braised cabbage was perfect, included some carrots as well.
Mac and cheese, just delicious. Super cheesy, noodles weren't mushy (like I usually find at restaurants)
Oh! And we had banana pudding. It was perfect.
All and all , this place is like eating at your family's house. The food is real, and prepared with love. It's really fantastic, and I can't wait to go back.

Edit: I almost forgot, the service was great, too. Really kind server was so helpful with the menu descriptions and recommendations.

It was quite evident that businesd is great due to the many people we witnessed coming and going. Our server was very patient and nice and tended to my family as much as she could. And the Mac and cheese.... Dear God the Mac and cheese.... Not stringy, not watery, not grainy, not weak, just perfect. The best I've ever had. We literally asked them for the largest container of it we could have to-go.

Passing through while traveling we tried this small little place. Saw the smoker billowing smoke out back and knew we had found authentic BBQ. Boss Hog fries are amazing. The rub and sauce were great on the ribs, but it tasted like I got ribs made the day before. The brisket was really good too. Recommend the Mac n cheese, cornbread stuffing, coleslaw(unique-has golden raisins in it). Friendly and helpful service.

The food would do any Tennessee Momma proud. It was like Sunday dinner at Mom's house. It was like stepping back in time. The food and the service were fast and friendly. We will be making this spot a regular from now on.

Fried perch, catfish, greens, cabbage - & that cornbread! What a great find! The owner/chef was so friendly. We asked to speak with him & commend him in his cooking. We tried to get the cabbage recipe, but no luck! We will definitely come back!

The food is great and so is the service....food was served hot and fast. My husband and I went Saturday for lunch and had the Boss Hog fries, Tiger Chicken, and Cajun Shrimp & chicken pasta! Phenomenal. Total "hole in the wall" - this place was amazing and busy for a reason. They have a smoker in back and a lot of great option. Everyone was ordering up the ribs, fried chicken and the yams. The banana pudding is the best I've ever had. Totally worth the 2 minutes off of 94.

Just moved here from the south and was really craving some food from home ... we soul this was a soul food place and I was skeptical but this place delivered ... the owner is super chill and funny. Service was awesome and the food was phenomenal. Like that Mac n cheese was better than any that I've ever had. (My memaw would be so pissed if she saw this lol) ... my husband had the fried chicken and he's super critical and he loved it so this will def be one of our regular spots to eat

This place is amazing. Real soul food. I'm talking fantastic chicken charred to perfection, cabbage, greens done with pride. Heart stopping onion rings. Amazing.

Wonderful service to start...very welcoming...homemade lemonade was delish...pulled pork bbq rivals any on planet...Mac & cheese very yummy too! Cornbread interesting, like pancake but tasty...price was very reasonable!

Dialo's Cafe is small and easy to miss in the middle of Benton Harbor's fast food strip, but when it comes to soul food, it is the real deal! The smoker out back and the smells in the dining room let us know we were in the right place. Portions were generous, and flavors were spot on. Vegetarian options were limited but tasty; carnivores were in heaven. Especially liked the johnny-cake style cornbread. Now that we've found it, we'll be eating here a lot!

This place is a hidden gem. The BBQ was delicious here. Their BBQ sauce def had some spice to it which I really liked. The rib dinner serving size is huge and the ribs have a ton of meat on them. Brisket was good but def preferred the ribs. The cabbage side was also surprisingly good. It seems like a family owned place and the staff was friendly.

Chicken and waffles was excellent! We also liked the yams, cabbage, and potato salad! Nice and friendly service. Food was made fresh so plan to wait a little while, but well worth the wait! And portion sizes are plentiful!

I've had Dialo's bookmarked for several weeks and today we finally made a trip there for lunch with friends. The restaurant is conveniently located on M139 but easy to miss with an unassuming sign and very small parking area in front. The smoker billowing white clouds of fragrant smoke was the tipoff that we had found the place.

We were greeted by our friendly server, Zenaya who told us about the specials and made some great recommendations. We landed on ribs, perch, friend chicken and the pork chop special with a variety of sides. We didn't have to wait too long but our mouths were watering when our feast was finally delivered to our table. Everything was fantastic, fresh and piping hot. The fried chicken was a stand-out as many have said - the breading was crisp and seasoned to perfection. Of the sides we particularly liked the mac 'n cheese, red beans & rice and the collard greens and corn bread. The coleslaw was amazing too. Even though we were totally stuffed, we tried the peach cobbler for dessert - excellent as well.

This place is a hidden gem - spotlessly clean, with comfortable seating or convenient carry-out and a nice menu with lots to choose from. We will be regulars here!!

Rib tips were outstanding but weren't nearly the highlight. The sides were the best part! I can't wait to go back and try something new! Highly recommended. Quaint, understated dining area inside and quiet despite the high traffic location.

Decided to come here for lunch and enjoyed it. The fried chicken was well cooked and fresh to order. I decided to try the yams and was super happy. I missed the south so much and now I have found a soul food place that hits the spot in the Michiana area. Looking forward to coming back for sure. I kinda wish they had some southern style sweet tea.

Enjoyed lunch today at Dialo's. They feature their own smoked meats and homemade southern/soul entrees, along with a few vegetarian items. Sandwiches plus one side or entrees plus two sides. Moderate size dining room with booths and tables.

Sandwiches: 8 oz burgers; fish po boy; bbq; portobello mushroom; veggie burger

Entrees: BBQ meat and chicken; BBQ ribs; fried chicken (20 minutes cooking time); pasta items

Sides: oh, the sides!!! Several excellent choices plus a unique "bean of the day"

Dessert: homemade peach cobbler plus pies and cake today

The food is very good. Seems like many things are prepared to order so customers have to be patient. As they grow and become better known, they will have to balance menu size with prep time. If you want take out, I would recommend calling in the order.

Only open a few months. I like it a lot
